UX Case Study
Buyerfolio
Simplifying homeownership through financial matching and co-buyer management.
The Core Problem
First-time buyers and affordability-constrained homebuyers have no structured platform to find, evaluate, and manage co-ownership with another party. Existing tools treat co-buying as a footnote โ there is no dedicated product that matches buyers by financial compatibility, surfaces risk transparently, or supports ongoing shared mortgage management. As a result, co-buyers rely on spreadsheets, informal agreements, and lawyers โ creating friction, opacity, and failed co-ownership arrangements.
๐ฅ User Pain
No visibility into a co-buyer's financial health before committing
๐ฆ Lender Pain
Co-buyer applications lack standardized financial compatibility data
๐ Market Gap
No product addresses ongoing shared mortgage management post-purchase
How Might We
- How might we help potential co-buyers assess financial compatibility before committing to shared ownership?
- How might we make complex financial data legible to non-expert users while keeping it accurate enough for lenders?
- How might we build confidence and trust between co-buyers who may not know each other well?
- How might we support the ongoing relationship between co-buyers after a mortgage is signed?

Research Insights
-
Trust & Verification
Users don't trust financial compatibility without a structured, third-party system to evaluate it
-
Clear Communication
Co-buyers want clear ownership breakdowns โ not just legal documents โ in plain language
-
Data Standardization
Lenders need structured data, not free-form documentation, to evaluate shared applications
-
Ongoing Support
